Burlesque is an expression of whatever that individual wants to express. Me? I want to make people laugh, I’ve chosen Burlesque as the forum and through doing so found a freedom, a confidence and a lifestyle that I adore.

Burlesque is a performance style that allows the performer to express themselves in any way they want.  Whether they choose to strip in their act or not, it doesn’t matter.  It can be anything from sensual, funny, or just plain weird!  Successful burlesque unites the audience and they get behind the performer, making Burlesque a really enjoyable experience for all!

Everything that I love, performance, being extrovert, and creating costumes. I see Burlesque as a type of Performance Art so my ideas could come out of anywhere… on the train, From the washing machine, in the supermarket,  on the toilet, watching a film , being drunk with friends, from a dream, or by watching a show.

I do not do burlesque myself, I am probably too lazy. But I do love how women enjoy themselves with it. I like to see women be free and proud of themselves. There is nothing more erotic and powerful than a woman being proud of herself.

Burlesque is an amazing way of expression. It’s a short time but very strong where everything is possible and where you can use every artistic disciplines. It’s a big mix. The audience is different than theater audience and, I think, they are more in the listening and in demand.

I express my universe in my creations and my point of view of the world. I have many acts very differents but I like it’s aesthetics, poetics, visual and engaged. For me, burlesque is a beautiful feminine way of expression. I use great Historical woman or literary figures for my characters. Many of time, they’re strong, or become it, and they’re witches. My stage name Cyr C. Délicieuse is an tribute to Circée (the witch in Odyssey of Ulysse), a tribute to Lily St Cyr. and a nickname with my own, Cyriel.

A creative, thrilling performance art centred around transformation. Starting off as one thing and ending as another – whether it’s embodying the character of a classic striptease artist or a raunchy neo act done to Jimi Hendrix… the burlesque art is the journey of that transformation with the performer in control of the audience’s thrills!

Burlesque to me means adventure, creativity and transformation; I love travelling around, going on crazy adventures, meeting wonderful new people and acquiring the strangest souvenirs! Burlesque gives me the power to transform into a new character in each performance as well as the ability to express myself and what inspires me without words.

Burlesque has given me the creative outlet I’ve always wanted and helped me to find a place in a community where anything goes, where you don’t have to necessarily fit in to be accepted… I am thankful for all the amazing experiences, all the joy and colour it’s brought and best of all, the gorgeous friends I’ve made!

After years of performing in musical theatre and having to stick strictly to the book, I find Burlesque so freeing as it enables me to create personas and just run with them, there is no right or wrong, just your own expression and bringing to an audience exactly what you have in your heart and mind, it’s an amazing feeling.

Burlesque is an explosion of creativity, body positivity, expression and fantasy. It offers an escape from the mundane and option to explore our hidden and secret selves under the spotlight. Burlesque is intimate and its performers share something special with their audience as they do with us.

Burlesque to me….an opportunity to prance about in a gorilla suit, shake my toosh and jiggle my tits to make people smile. Its entertainment on a sugar high and no shame. It is confidence, revival and perfect in its imperfections.
